Carl Palandino Savvy Politician or Completely Off His Rocker

Catching up on this week's news I stumbled across an article about Carl Palandino, Republican candidate for Governor of New York. This overtly brash and outspoken Tea Party candidate won the party nomination during the primary on August 14. He will go up against Andrew Cuomo, son of former Governor Mario Cuomo in the November general election.

One would think by the way this man speaks he would never have made it past the primaries. Evidently the people of New York think otherwise. Political correctness is not his forte and he is proud of it. He only wants to serve one term and during that term he wants to take away corruption, cut taxes by 10% and cut spending by 20%. He has a 5 point strategy that has been his message from day one and plans on continuing with it during the general election.

Doing more research some interesting things came to light. One of them concerned a unique campaign message. Being a marketer I applauded the originality.

"Paladino certainly knows how to get attention. One of his campaign mailings which told voters on the outside of the envelope that something smells in Albany had a scent inside that made it stink like a landfill."

According to interviews given by Mr. Palandino, he is against same sex marriage and abortion. He wants people on welfare to live in a former prison until they get trained to hold a job and out of the system. He once sent an email to his friends forwarding a bestiality joke and forwarding another where the President and First Lady are dressed as pimp and prostitute. All of this he acknowledges and is unapologetic for.

Former New York politicians call him dangerous.

Making sure I was getting all the facts and not a biased view, I perused news agencies of all types and even his website.

I came away after all that more befuddled than before. In one respect I find his message worth applauding. On the other I am appalled by his overt brashness and manner of speaking. All I know is I am glad I am not a voter in New York this year.

What say you about this man?

Just viewing his website you'd think the guy was in your face and maybe a little obnoxious but he made good points. Reading the other stuff though you have to wonder if he hasn't lost his mind.

It doesn't sound as if this man has any integrity at all, Grace. Scary. When a person takes pleasure in insulting others and obviously has no respect, I don't trust anything that comes out of their mouths.

"Carl is as Mad As Hell", it says so on his lawn signs out here in his home town.

Fine, get some help Carl, a shrink might help. We have suffered through mental midgets in the Statehouse for years, we don't need someone who is totally mad.

See a doc, get out of politics!
