Ever see a penny lying on the ground and pick it up? As the saying implies, it is supposed to bring good luck.
Most of us see a penny and do not bother with them after childhood. We throw them aside considering them a nuisance. After all they are not worth the material they are made of, they weigh down our pockets and they cannot buy anything. Or can they...
Today the US population clock said there were 309,990,838 people in this country. If each person donated 1 penny, you could raise $3,099,908.38. With that kind of money, figuring a family of 4 could be fed for $700 a month, you could feed 4,428 families for that month.
That is pretty awesome isn't it?
Here is something even more incredible. Let us say each person put aside a penny a day for a year. After a year we as a group would have $1,131,466,558.70. Yes you saw that number correctly. That is $1.1 BILLION dollars. That would feed 1,616,381 families of four for a month: all on a penny a day for a year.
Imagine what the people (not the government) of this country could do once a year with something we now throw away. One day a year, this country could truly be generous to one another and make a world of difference in so many people's lives.
And you thought a penny was not worth anything.
What do you think we could do with a penny a day?
